Hiring rate of position: The starting pay for this position is between $26.087-$33.153/hour commensurate with experience and subject to available budget.

Location of position: 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln, NE 68509 but will be moving soon to Fallbrook

Work schedule:
8am-5pm
Examples of Work
Establish working relationships with the state, national and international organizations and cooperators to expand opportunities on behalf of Nebraska corn farmers, including first purchasers.
Administers general communications for the Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) including news releases, op-eds, media advisories, newsletter articles, monthly radio reports, internal/external media relations and other strategic outreach efforts.
Work in conjunction with NCB’s advertising agency to identify target audiences and cater communications to specific needs through integrated marketing channels, including radio, print, television, digital media and public relations.
Administers strategic oversight of current social media platforms to reach specific target audiences across the state of Nebraska
Stays up to date of emerging social media platforms that may be used to further extend NCB’s messages to target audiences
Manage activities and promotional events that expand the reach to both consumers and producers including Husker Harvest Days, State Fair, ethanol promotions and others
Identifies potential partnerships to help educate students of all ages about the corn and agricultural industries
Lead educational discussions about the corn industry to various audiences
Manage and coordinate in conjunction with industry partners consumer focused programs, such programs as CommonGround, Corn Reputation and others
Develop consumer-focused outreach materials that cover issues of importance such as GMOs, technology, and production practices
Administers internship program including office and cooperator interns
Work in cooperation with the Nebraska Corn Growers Association in recruitment of interns Manage NCB’s annual July Leadership Program to National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Congress in WDC and in cooperation with other corn states
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in agribusiness, ag economics, business administration, animal science, agronomy, biochemistry or related field and experience in an area related to the function of agriculture based agencies such as agriculture education, economics, biology, agronomy, entomology or related area. Experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED: Preference of 2-3 years of experience related to the essential job duties of this position, especially within journalism, communications, marketing, advertising or related.

OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance. This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver’s license or another form of reliable transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to understand, communicate and coordinate the Nebraska corn industry's value to the environment, economy, and trade, along with the value of products originating from corn. Basic understanding of corn development, trends and good verbal and communicative skills. Ability to deal effectively with others and in a positive team environment.

Skill in providing communications of innovative market development projects, research, education; presenting information to groups, individuals and board of directors; and identifying and collecting relevant information regarding trends.
