GENERAL PURPOSE:
The successful Fleet Light Duty Technician contributes to the overall mission and values of the City of Loveland by adhering to City of Loveland (COL) core values and safety standards in the performance of basic and advanced repairs and diagnostics on automobiles and light duty trucks.
The salary range for this position is $20.34- $29.47
per hour with a hiring range of
20.34
24.90
depending on qualifications and experience.
Position will close to applicants on: Monday, 3/14/22 at 12:00 P.M. M.S.T..

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs minor and major preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs of the City’s light duty fleet in accordance with Industry “Flat Rate” standards (where applicable). Assists coworkers by sharing knowledge and assisting with awkward and/or heavy jobs.
Performs component removals and re-installations; parts replacements; parts cleaning; and assists with jobs requiring an additional technician as well as heavy jobs.
Works as an effective member of the Fleet Services team by responding to change with a positive attitude, meeting customer needs with flexibility, and by asking questions proactively when faced with uncertainty.
Maintains constructive dialogue and relationships with the public and City staff through effective interpersonal communications and customer service skills.
Interviews customers and operators about vehicle/equipment problems to understand and diagnose accurately.
Ensures all required information is reported accurately on work orders, preventative maintenance reports, and other documents
Performs work in accordance with industry and City safety standards
Assists coworkers by sharing knowledge & mentors less experienced Technicians to enhance knowledge and skill in fleet maintenance policies, procedures, tasks, techniques and performance standards.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Completion of repairs and PMs should meet industry u0022flat rateu0022 standards, when applicable. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of electrical, emissions and mechanical systems
Repair tools and equipment;
Understanding of safety regulations and procedures associated Fleet Operations;
Proficiency using industry related computer software and other application software such as e-mail and contact management systems, and industry specific light duty software.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to accurately diagnose and repair mechanical problems.
Capability to perform basic math computations, and maintain accurate and complete computer records.
Ability to understand maintenance and repair manuals, instructions, and systems diagrams.
Ability to understand OEM diagnostic software and test equipment used in the performance of the assigned tasks.

Licenses and Certifications:
A valid Class B commercial driver's license with air brake and passenger (P2) endorsements is preferred. Must obtain and retain State of Colorado gas emissions licenses within 120 days of hire. ASE Master Certification in Automotive/Light truck (A1-A8) highly desired.
Education and/or Experience:
An automotive vocational school degree is required. Three (3) years’ experience in the automotive repair industry required if not in possession of automotive or diesel vocational school degree or certificate.
Materials and Equipment Directly Used:
Variety of mechanical and diagnostic tools, shop maintenance equipment, City vehicles, fleet maintenance software (e.g.: FASTER), and diagnostic software
Computer, telephone, cell phone, office equipment such as copier and fax machine
Diagnostic scan tools, generator, car wash system, compressor, jacks, vehicle lifts
Fuel and petroleum dispensing equipment
Tire dismounting, mounting and balancing equipment
Forklift
Service Truck
Uses of common automotive chemicals and solvents.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
Work hours vary by season and are subject to change based on emergency or weather-related events which may extend the work day to include occasional night-shift work, and may include working outdoors, as needed
Physical demands involve moderate to heavy physical work requiring ability to move or reposition up to 100 pounds, and frequent repositioning and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Work involves regular walking, standing, and frequently a full range of body movement including bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, climbing and crawling. Considerable hand/eye/foot coordination is necessary to operate tools and equipment, and occasionally operate equipment and vehicles. Correctible vision is required to read automotive manuals, gauges and meters. Speech and hearing must be adequate to receive or give technical information and instructions, and to perform in a safe manner. Incumbent may be required to work outdoors, as needed, in all weather conditions.
Considered essential personnel required to report for duty in response to community emergencies (e.g. natural disaster, snow, fire, flood, blizzard, etc.).
