This position requires a performance assessment which involves a pre-trip inspection and maneuvering/driving. To be considered for this position, you must pass this assessment. Assessments typically take place on Thursday or Saturday, one time per month. Additional detailed information will be provided once you are invited for the assessment. This position requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) level B, at minimum.
This position requires a background check, physical, and drug test.

The Division of Transportation Operations is responsible for maintaining and operating transportation infrastructure. Sections within the Division include curbside management, traffic signals, signs and markings, system operations, and managing the street lighting franchise agreement.
Our Pavement Markings and Long Lines team is hiring for a Traffic Operations Technician II (TOT II) to be part of their crew.

As a TOT II you will expect to:
Operate paint rigs, walk-behind paint machine, parking or similar striping truck and equipment, which includes: filling tanks with paint and reflector beads, ensuring adherence to guidelines and standards governing placement of street markings, programs spray guns, operate gauges and paint pumps, thermal plastic or similar durable markings, and use optical pointer to ensure line accuracy
Pre/Post trips Paint truck, ensure auxiliary motor and paint equipment are functional for daily operation; responsible for cleanliness of vehicles and equipment
Simple Preventive maintenance of truck equipment
Communication of truck issues with Supervisor and Fleet Maintenance
Observe all safety practices, with PPE and SOP's of Signs and Markings maintenance, including laws and rules of the roadway
Be involved with planning/operations, support leadership with yearly paint projects
Assist supervisor in keeping track of assets management using tablets or computer
Mentor and help the supervisor train other employees to follow policies and procedures
Run crews in place of supervisor absence
Signs crews and Crosswalk crews assistance as needed
Snow removal duty - heavy and light plow as needed
Coordinate with the crew lead and operations supervisor if necessary. Practice strong communication skills with other members and management
Perform various tasks associated with street pavement marking projects, which includes: measure, lay out, stencil, stripe, paint, and maintain lane lines, center lines, crosswalks, turn arrows, stop bars, parking stalls, curbs, and other pavement, or similar markings

Ability to work a variable schedule due to possible emergencies and in inclement weather

Basic computer skills such as MS Office and inventory management software (Cartegraph)

Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
Experience: Three (3) years of traffic signs and markings experience.
License/Certifications: This job requires driving. Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL B) with appropriate endorsements at time of application. IMSA (International Municipal Signal Association) Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification OR ATSSA Traffic Control Technician Certification is required at the time of application. IMSA Signs & Pavement Markings Technician Level I Certification OR ATSSA Pavement Markings Technician Certification is required within 1 year of hire or promotion. Obtain IMSA Signs Technician Level II Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion. Obtain IMSA Pavement Markings Technician Level II Certification within 1 year of hire or promotion. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
