Transportation and Mobility Planning is responsible for planning, designing, and operating the transportation and mobility infrastructure for the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. (CCD). The division is responsible for programming changes to the city's multimodal transportation system. It also reviews, evaluates, implements, and maintains transportation system improvements. The staff in the Planning Division are leaders in urban transportation and work to implement the Mayor's Mobility Action Plan
Transportation and Mobility Planning team is seeking a qualified Senior City Planner with expertise in multimodal transportation innovation; transit; shared micromobility (ex. bike & scooter-share), microtransit and other forms of shared mobility, bike facility design, Transportation Demand Management (TDM); concept design; and project and program management. This position is responsible for leading and supporting the implementation of the Transit Program.
As a Senior City Planner for the Transit program, duties would include:
Administer Denver's Shared Micromobility Program including license compliance, program buildout, and multimodal coordination with the other planning team subgroups.
Participate in implementation of Denver Moves: Transit, which often requires coordination of consultants and with multiple DOTI divisions, City departments, RTD, other external agencies and/or/multi-jurisdictions
Support DOTI's emerging Microtransit program including service planning, outreach, system rollout, and administration
Create project scopes of work and schedules which may include preparation of existing conditions assessment, environmental research and assessment, public involvement, data analysis, timelines, and budget
Develop long and short-term plans and designs involving transit and corridor transportation planning initiatives related to capital investment corridors, speed and reliability improvements, bus stop enhancements, and frequent transit network initiatives
Serve as a technical advisor to neighborhood groups, City Council, advocates, and other stakeholders on transit and corridor related issues
Facilitate meetings and/or presentations to bring together interested stakeholders to discuss proposed transportation planning initiatives, assess obstacles, evaluate opposing views and interests, and determine areas of support
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
Master's Degree in City or Regional Planning, Engineering, Public Policy and Administration or a directly related degree
Five years of professional experience in city or regional planning specifically related to transportation and infrastructure planning with at least two of those years specializing in transit planning, shared mobility, and/or service planning
Self-motivated and driven to help others. Strong mentoring skills to work with junior staff
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with diverse groups of stakeholders ranging from members of the public to the Mayor and City Council
Proficient in Geographic Information Systems, Ride Report, Remix, Jira, Microsoft Office and/or Adobe Suite programs

Education: Bachelor's Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Historic Preservation, Engineering, or a related degree
Experience: Five (5) years of professional planning experience
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
