Denver Human Services is comprised of the following Divisions and program areas: The Family and Adult Assistance Division that supports the public with applying for public assistance programs and child support services; the Community Outreach and Resource Engagement Division that provides DHS services in collaboration with community partners throughout the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.; Prevention and Protection to support child welfare and adult protection; and a Support Services Division which includes Performance Improvement and Accountability.
About Community Impact and Strategic Planning
The Community Impact team is comprised of the Marketing and Communications team, the DHS Strategic Framework and initiatives: Human Together, and additional areas of Community Impact ranging from community partnerships and investments, collaborations with other city agencies, nonprofits, and community-based organizations.
The Marketing Manager is a key leader of the Community Impact team, serving as a key teammate in communications, marketing, and/or public relations work by managing marketing, public relations, public information, and/or communications efforts for the department in alignment with DHS' mission and Strategic Framework, Human Together.
The Marketing and Communications team supports all areas of DHS to effectively tell the stories of our customers and staff, while inspiring narratives and engagement around five strategic goals:
Increasing Equity & Access
Ensuring Safety and Wellness
Improving Connectivity
Encouraging Economic Resilience
Supporting our Workforce
Additionally, the Marketing and Communications team serves as a creative thought partner, working closely with the Executive Management Team, Mayor's Office, Internal Divisions, and other Citywide Communications teams.
About the Position:
The Marketing Manager at Denver Human Services will have experience working in a large department overseeing team projects. The key components and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Supports daily operations for internal and external marketing and campaigns and media and communications tactics in conjunction with division plans by creating goals and objectives that meet business needs and initiatives
Manages the work of professional staff members engaged in the design, preparation, and production of public information materials, marketing and public involvement programs, and other activities
Establishes and maintains good working relationships with internal and external representatives while also supporting a variety of public events and community outreach efforts and helps with the production and distribution of public information and announcements
Advises management on how departmental direction and policy actions may be perceived by the public and press and recommends approaches on how to improve or alter a message that plays better in the arena of public opinion
Ensures financial resources are utilized appropriately and shifts resources based on business needs within budget restraints
Resolves operational and management issues, makes decisions that are inclusive of multiple perspectives, and solves underlying problems
Develops goals, documents performance, provides performance feedback and formally evaluates the work of staff; provides reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance
Assists staff to achieve performance standards and identifies opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinate staff and makes decisions on hiring, terminations, promotions, and disciplinary actions as required
Communicates annual work plans to employees and ensures employees are focused on the work plan and achieving performance standards
During emergency situations, this position may assist the Marketing and Communications Director and Public Information Officer with crisis communications support
About You
Our ideal candidate has:
Supervisory experience of teams and project management of large marketing and communications campaigns
An ability and experience establishing and maintaining relationships with agency leaders and stakeholders, community, and other government departments
Experience developing and measuring marketing and communications projects for impact
Direct experience leading projects from creation to implementation
Strong relationship building skills, and an ability to provide inspiring marketing and communications counsel to other leaders and supervised staff
Experience supporting community, incorporating community voices, and experience supporting equity and inclusion through communications outreach
An ability to co-manage crisis, conflict, and be responsive to national, state, or local emergencies
Proficiency in another language

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or a related field
Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience at the type and level of a Marketing/Communications Specialist in communications, marketing, and/or public relations
Education & Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of posthigh school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements

$85,015.00 - $140,275.00
Starting Pay
Although our full pay range is listed above, the budgeted hiring range for this position will most likely be between $85,015 - $112,645 based on education and experience.
